New Glenwood Schools Superintendent Arrives Today

J. H. Morgan arrives from Sigourney as Glenwood schools’ new superintendent. He will be at the high school all day Saturday to discuss the upcoming year which starts next Monday. A 3 30 conference with teachers is planned. Misses Lillian and Michel Cunningham of Malvern previously taught two years in Sigourney under Mr. Morgan.

Methodist Conference to convene in Clarinda next Tuesday

The annual conference of southwest Town Methodist churches will convene in Clarinda next Tuesday with about 250 ministers present. Eight Mills county pastors attend, and changes in Mills county this year are uncertain as to how pastors will be distributed by the presiding bishop.

Mills county records no fruit display at the Iowa state fair for the first time in about twenty years. The year has been the worst for fruit Queen Mills, with J W Murphy unable to assemble a display, yet he still attends as a judge of the fruit exhibit.

Passenger Business Boosts Burlington District

Passenger Agent Mark Reno reported booming traffic along the Burlington line while in Glenwood yesterday between trains 11 and 4. He anticipates heavy colonist travel this fall as people seek cheaper land, with crowded passenger trains and some key runs split into two sections.
