Rural Route Changes Near Glenwood

Changes take effect today on Glenwood rural routes. Route 4 will pass through Hillsdale adding about thirty families. Special Teachers Examination Notice and Local Ads

The notice lists a teachers examination to be held at the office on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 23 and 24, by Geo. E. Masters Supt of Schools. It includes multiple local advertisements for services and sales in Glenwood such as laundry, eagle display, fancy work, hunting prohibition notices, bats, tailoring, cakes and confections, poultry, cigars, and Hillsdale property for sale.

Box Socials At Lincoln and Elm Grove Schools

The community schedules box socials and entertainments at Lincoln school west of Pacific Junction this Friday. Miss Grace Rodman teaches Pleasant Grove in Rawles township next Saturday. Elm Grove in Lyons township hosts a box social Saturday night. Egypt school in Lyons township also recently held an event taught by Miss Cleva Carson. Each box raised at least a dollar with top bids to $2.50, totaling over 31 dollars for a new oak teacher’s desk, chair, clock, and blinds.

Corn Husking Machine Trial At Henderson

Farmers near Henderson report a corn husking machine with Satisfactory results at $850 cost. It needs four to five horses to pen the busker and can harvest seven to ten acres a day in ten hours. Two more teams haul corn to the crib, wagons run alongside. three men and eight or nine horses are required, offering no clear speed or cost advantage over hand gathering yet aids when farm help is scarce.

County Hospital Bond Defeated in Montgomery County

Citizens of Montgomery County rejected a proposal to establish a Red Oak county hospital under a new bond law. Result 1311 against to 1132 for. Villisca and Stanton led the opposition with Villisca initiating the effort and Red Oak pressing the question first. Villisca later retaliated at the polls.

Duck Shooting Improves After Rainy Weekend

Rain on Friday and Saturday flooded bottom lands boosting duck shooting. Hunters report plentiful game and more ducks than this fall. Auditor Criswell notes 626 licenses issued up to last night.

Notice that on December 3 1906 during Mills County Iowa tax sale J J Wallace purchased the north 25 feet of the south 84 feet of lot 4 block 26 Glenwood for delinquent taxes. Redemption expires 90 days after service unless paid. E C Cook holder of certificate by assignment.
