General Grants Joke Recalls Chaplain Mail Delay Sign
A Civil War anecdote shared by Eliot M. Miller from New Orleans recounts General U S Grant delaying his chaplain father, who distributed staff mail. The chaplain posts a sign claiming he knows not when the mail will arrive, only to see Grant later read it and correct the message with a witty reversal about not giving a damn. Photographic and chromatic views of Glenwood adorn a Robinson's sales line.
