City Bonds for Sale in Glenwood

The City of Glenwood invites bids on all or part of eighteen thousand five hundred dollars in bonds to raise funds. Bonds issued June 15 1920 will bear 6 percent interest payable annually and run five to twenty years. Bids open at the June council meeting sealed with the city treasurer W C Rathke. Council may reject any bids.

8th graders to be examined across twenty three schools

On Wednesday Thursday and Friday of this week the 8th grade pupils of twenty three schools, numbering 56, will be examined for promotion. Mrs Julia Mershon has returned to Glenwood to help care for Mrs George A Davies. Local families travel for visits and funeral services in nearby towns.

Serenaded Newlyweds Seek Smoke and Happiness

Mr and Mrs Robert Allen were serenaded Friday night by a lively group. The bashful couple escaped multiple times to avoid the crowd, first from the mother’s home then to the brides parents, then to Pacific Junction for cigars. The serenaders finally corralled the couple back home where the festivities ended with cigars and flirtation.

Breaks Wrist at Glenwood Granite Works

Co. A. Flynn fractured his right wrist last Thursday while handling a sting derrick at the Glenwood Granite Works. His hand was caught as a granite block swung back against a wall, bending the wrist. Dr. Pompton attended and Flynn is recovering well.

New Officers Named by Glenwood Women's Club

The Glenwood Women's Club announced at a May 3 meeting the officers for the year. Samuel Istes serves as president, Mary Rathke as vice president, C G E Dean and A L Wolfe as secretaries, and P F H L Hester as treasurer.

Quality Hill D C Domino Club Hosts Pleasant Evening

The Quality Hill D C Domino Club met last Saturday at Mrs. J. W. Terry’s home. After an hour or more of games, refreshments were served by the hostess and all left in high spirits, pleased with the jolly time.
