Supt Bryan Re-elected By Glenwood School Board

The Glenwood school board reorganized and re elected Supt L G Bryan for another year. They also voted to refund district indebtedness totaling 13000 with new bonds of 1000 each, arranging annual redemption. J M Myers joined the board as a new member and was introduced to duties.

Democratic Delegates Elected In Glenwood Caucus

Glenwood Democrats held a precinct caucus last Monday and chose thirteen delegates to the county convention to be held at Malvern next Saturday. At the county gathering delegates will be chosen to attend the state Democratic convention in Cedar Rapids on March 26. W. F. Hill, as chairman, can appoint alternates to fill vacancies. Attendees will cast the precinct vote. Elected delegates include Wm. Donelan, J. L. Bellatti, N. T. Bradway, Bernie Boyle, Dan Lewis, J. F. Record, Joe McCurdy, John Davidson, Arthur Dick, Geo. H. Estes, W. DeLashmutt.

Little Boy Hurt In Wagon Accident Near Glenwood

Six year old son of Mr and Mrs Lafe Emerine was seriously injured when a wagon loaded with corn rolled over his head on Hagenburger farm six miles northwest of Glenwood. Ground gave no slack, leaving his skull possibly fractured. Condition was critical.

Seed Corn Experiments Highlight State Institute Quality

Des Moines dispatch notes John Cownie of the State Board of Control has tested seed corn from state institutions showing near 100 percent vitality in institutional samples. In contrast farmers’ seed averaged only about 36 percent viability, helping explain waste across 3 million harvested acres of 9 million planted. Downie explains the disparity and progress.

Tabor Declamatory Contest Promises Big High School Show

The fourth annual declamatory contest of southwest Town high schools is set for Friday at Tabor with humorous class at 2:30 pm and dramatic and oratorical selections at night. Admission is 25 cents for both sessions. Greenwood sends three speakers Paul Gilliland Hazel Fleming and Percy Rist. A large Greenwood delegation will attend amid school color displays and a G H S emblem. No school session Friday as teachers and students travel to Tabor.

Accident Injures Roy Novinger Near Sidney

A serious accident at Frank Novinger’s home four miles east of Sidney wounds Roy Novinger, about eighteen. While repairing a rusty old gun kept as a relic, Roy removed the tube and placed the barrel in a stove, causing an explosion that injures the palm and upper arm without any bullet or shot recovered. The cause remains undetermined.
