Glenwood Social Doings Highlight Local At Homes

Glenwood social life fills the week with three at home gatherings at the De Lashmutt residence hosting six thirty dinners with families De Lashmutt Dean and Stone. Dominoes and euchre wins are noted, plus a unique military themed At Home by Mrs Daniel and daughter Josephine. A large Glenwood Social Club turnout fills the Chamberlain home with dominoes topping five tables and a missed euchre. A surprise party honors Clara Kinney on her 14th birthday at Mrs Ora Shay’s home. Invitations go out for two At Homes by Mrs Estes and Fay Wright. The Cheetnut Street Club meets at S I Sawyer’s with prizes shared by Clyde and Rhoads families and a guest prize to Mrs Feltham.

Glenwood Lodge Holds Special Meeting and Degrees

A Glenwood I P Lodge special convention drew good attendance with two candidates, Charles Hume and Andrew Gohlinghurst, receiving first and second degrees. A sapper was served at 7 o clock, and the evening featured amusements. Seventeen visitors listed from Hastings Pacific Junction and area, with Pace elected as chancellor commander to succeed Lufkin, not yet installed.

The Glenwood Woman's Club art department will present a March 16 program led by chair Mrs. Elliott. Performances include piano duets by Mrs. McCluskey and Mrs. Kraft, vocal and violin solos, and a series of classical works by Correggio Caracci, Veronese, and others performed by Mrs. Nielsen Mrs. Williams Miss Hlonise Wilson Mrs. Kraft Miss Harriet Schofield Mrs. J. Farmers and truck growers are urged to contract for tomatoes. Prospective growers are asked to decide, raise their own plants in hot beds by April, sign the contract, and receive seed without delay. County Obtains Temporary Timber Injunction

County Attorney Starbuck filed in district court to stop timber cutting on 35 acres in Lyons township section 37. The land, mortgaged to the county, belongs to A. P. Travis, former poor farm steward now in Ohio, tied to a July school loan. Judge Thornell granted a temporary injunction barring timber removal pending further action.

Odd Shaped Egg Baffles Tribune Reporter

A Curiosity A Q Frizzell of northeast Glenwood sent in an unusual find to the Tribune a two inch long egg shaped like an Indian club. It is well formed and harder than a typical egg suggesting perhaps a quirky poultry anomaly or gymnastic chicken behavior.

Musical Houses at the Opera House Friday Night

The Opera House presents Musical Houses with a fine light orchestra and a skilled reader. A good vocal soloist leads the act. Friday night March 13 admission prices are 25 and 35 and 50 cents.
