In Glenwood and nearby towns, residents report visits and travels among Ivory Otis, Bower Bros, Wilson Drug, and E G Woodrow. Generous social rounds include relatives from Omaha and Red Oak, weddings charivaris, and a chautauqua ad campaign. Trades, farms, and repairs figure amid crop notes and local business ads.
A ten month old boy, son of Mr and Mrs Scott McClure, nearly choked on a brass headed tack on a Glenwood porch Friday night. Neighbors and doctors responded as the child’s breath failed, and the tack was dislodged and forced into the stomach. Artificial respiration saved the infant, who recovered by the next day.
In Center township a sociability gathering unfolded on Saturday at Mrs. John Kelly's Glenwood home. About 40 relatives and old friends attended, bringing baskets and spreading a long table under the trees for a communal meal and good times.
An auction is set for the northwest corner of the square in Glenwood on Saturday August 38 at 2 o clock. Items include Frances Strubel millinery pools household furniture horse and harness and other articles.

Lou Trobridge, a farmer near Tabor, demonstrated in Omaha a new corn disease he says is spreading across Iowa and into Nebraska. He shows stalks with healthy upper portions but dead roots and shriveled leaves that cling to the stalk, warning farmers to prepare for a corn failure despite good outward growth.
