Silver City Social Notes and Accident Report

Mrs J L Smith returned Monday from Centerville. Mr and Mrs Bert Hoffaker of Council Bluffs spent Sunday with his parents here. Rey W G Cooper is at Hamburg this week on business. Mrs E A Anderson returned from a visit with relatives at Stanberry Mo. Guy Richards of Wymore Neb visited his wife and children in Silver City. John Jim Parker left for Wellington Colo to visit his daughter Mrs TN Salyers, absent several weeks. Monday morning N Goos northeast of Silver City was injured when a hay stacker fell on him, cutting his head and bruising his back. he was unconscious for hours but is improving.

Henderson Grant Hockenbury is described as a Red Cab itor visiting Henderson this week. Miss Maude Coppock visited in Henderson. Mosely Chase returned home from Warlington Junction after weeks of treatment. Miss aS Willard and Lena had a daughter Thursday after three weeks with Jeli Cayo. A runaway involving John Maynes cost about 200. One horse was killed. News came of a death in Rey Leake family formerly of here now at Onuwa from cerebrospinal meningitis with three more children ill with the same illness.

Clean Up and Avoid Typhoid Physicians Warn

Physicians say from now until September 1st is the worst time of the year for typhoid fever. Hot weather fosters typhoid and related illnesses, so careful eating and drinking, choosing clean food and pure water, is urged for Mills County residents to reduce infection risks. Premises should be renovated, garbage disposed of, and weeds cut to minimize disease threats.

Burlington to Implement Two-Cent Fare System

Assistant General Passenger Agent Buckingham announced a two-cent fare across the entire Burlington system within ten days, covering Montana to South Dakota. Clerks work on the schedule and the rate will start once the tariff is completed. The move likely prompts other railroads in the region to follow.

Emerson Picnic Dampened by Weather and Busy Farms

The Emerson two day picnic faced poor turnout due to cloudy skies and rain, with farmers busy in the fields and limited attendance from nearby towns.
