Obituary for Hamlin Russell Laird born Erie Pennsylvania 1836 died Tabor Iowa July 14 1918 aged 82 longtime Fremont County resident 65 years in Iowa 30 years in Tabor served as Superintendent of Schools County Clerk bank president and college trustee six sons survive his wife Jennie Briggs Laird died about three years earlier funeral held July 17 with six sons as pallbearers and six granddaughters as flower bearers
Cade Rogers a Mills county pioneer died July 16 at the Town Soldier s Home in Marshalltown after a brief illness from a cerebral hemorrhage. He was born March 1 1839 in Miller county Missouri and served in the Civil War as a private in Company B 6th Iowa Cavalry enlisting October 6 1862 and discharged October 17 1865. He entered the Iowa Soldiers Home November 8 1912 and was buried July 12 1918 with full military honors. He leaves two surviving siblings M W Meade Dorchester Nebraska and Mrs Joe Graham Alhambra Illinois.
Infant Joseph Shelton Poindexter, born July 1 1918, died July 18 1918 after a short illness from acute gastritis. Survived by parents Mr and Mrs R H Poindexter and sister Kathleen. Funeral at home July 19 conducted by Rev Floyd Smith. Burial in Permgon cemetery.

Elizabeth Burton Wright Mrs B Wright died at her home in Phelps City Missouri on July 17 1918. The body was brought to Pacific Junction on Saturday July 20 and from there conveyed to the Gretwood cemetery where brief services were conducted.
