Glenwood celebrates Fourth with many visitors

Glenwood's Fourth of July drew numerous guests from nearby towns and states. Visitors included Miss Ora Ostrander, Miss Faith Dunn, Mrs. H. R. Hillman and relatives from Pasadena and Holbrook, and brothers and sisters visiting from Council Bluffs. Local residents and transients filled the town, with many returning to celebrate at the institution and at homes across Glenwood.

Traveling Man Heals With Cholera Remedy in 1888

The traveler H. W. Ireland of Louisville recalls a severe 1888 cholera morbus attack treated with Chamberlain's Colic Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy. Two doctors failed to relieve him, a hotel porter purchased the remedy, and after a double dose he slept and awoke well enough to travel the next morning. Sold by A. J. Howe.
