State Checkers Visit Glenwood to Audit Books

Two visitors Messrs. B. F. Rehkopf of Indianola and G. W. Kyte of Osceola arrived in Glenwood to inspect county officers records under an Iowa law. They work quietly, began with the treasurer’s books, and have not been checked since 1913 in this county.

Herrick and Burkett Celebrate Tenth Anniversary

Earl R. Herrick and Miss Ethel Blanche Burkett marked ten years of marriage on June 28 1915 with a family and friends dinner at their home. The couple hope to celebrate many more anniversaries.

Glenwood Set for July Games With Tabor and Red Oak Greys

The Glenwood ball team travels to Tabor on Thursday July 1 for a contest with the local club. Tabor returns the visit in Glenwood on July 6, celebration day, just after the Calithampian parade. On July 14 the Red Oak Greys visit Glenwood for a diamond clash as Glenwood’s club meets them.

Glenwood Churches Hold Outdoor Summer Services

Glenwood church services for July and August will run at the court house park starting July 4 evening. If rain, services move to the Christian church. Rev. Wm. Stevenson of the M. E. church conducts the first service. Episcopal services next Sunday at 8 by Rev. Deibert. Baptist service at 10:30 with Miss Lenore Burkett of Lincoln singing. orchestra to assist at Sunday school.

Ames Teacher Receives Government Appointment

Robert McChord, a graduate and teacher at Ames, has won a government appointment in his field and will leave this week for the new post. He has been acting manager for James W. Carter since March first, but the new job offers a substantial salary advance and is reported with regret by the community.
