Word reaches of a misfortune to Alex Powell of Haxtum Colorado who lost a leg while unloading a monument. The slab slipped crushing his leg and it had to be amputated. Powell formerly lived near Pacific Junction.
The Glenwood high school senior class examinations and records for 1916 are completed. Miss Ruth Plimpton earns first honor and will be valedictorian, while Miss Nelle Wheeler secures second honor as salutatorian.

In Tulpehocken township Rehrersburg Pennsylvania George B Gerhard and William H Oxenreider unloaded wheat when a copperhead snake three feet five inches long crawled from the last sheaf onto a horse and into a grain barrel area. Oxenreider raised the barrel slightly and the snake showed threat. Bickel fled to safety while Oxenreider fetched an ax to sever the snake head.
Shortly before his death John Kiersey eighty six of Pleasant Hill told a niece to search the windmill tower. The search uncovered 1400 dollars in cash stored inside the structure.
