During his absence last week the family of Sheriff Edwards and his brother J W Edwards moved their household goods into the new jail building and are now at home there. On returning, Edwards found the former residence disconnected by phone and learned the move was complete. He traveled in Missouri near West Plains meeting a cousin unseen before and was within twenty miles of a sister but could only telephone visit with her and family.
Sheriff Edwards located Cyrus Adkins in Panama Nebraska after a week of searching at Missouri and Nebraska sites. Adkins returned with the sheriff to Glenwood to settle rental dues and other accounts. He then went back to Panama with his family, and friends deem his sudden departure unwise but report all matters adjusted satisfactorily.
Last Thursday in Hillsdale a work day had about 18 men dig post holes and nail boards while a wind break rose on the north and east sides. At noon ladies delivered a hot dinner, followed by a missionary meeting with about a dozen women present. Local residents are noted visiting relatives and trips to nearby towns. J H Johnson, a housemover, faced Justice Edwards for drunkenness after a home melee with his son Fred. He received a 30 day sentence but was not imposed pending good behavior. Mrs. Johnson reported abuse while intoxicated toward daughter Susie, prompting Fred to intervene, leading to the arrest.
Early Thursday between one and two oclock a residence owned by Wim Blakely, located 144 miles east of Randolph, burned to the ground. Blakely, the sole occupant, perished in the blaze. He owned a 240 acre farm and lived alone.
