Ebaugh the optician, Pace in Malvern yesterday, and many locals travel to Omaha and Los Angeles. Young people and workers move, weddings loom, and business openings at Laraway’s and Heinsheimer place.
A wedding party in Center township welcomed about 70 guests as Cora Chambers married Leslie Richardson at 2 30 pm officiated by Rev W D Lutz. The bride, Glenwood high school graduate, and groom, son of Mr and Mrs Z A Richardson, plan to farm near Balfour.
Mills County enjoys a stretch of sunny warmth despite forecasts of storms. The town reports clear nights, drying mud, and superb constellations Orion, Pleiades, Jupiter, Sirius, Cassiopeia, and the Great Dipper. Thermometer highs reach 54 to 68 during the day with nights around 25, and today tops 60.
Q. Records retired last week as cashier of the W. M. Lamb bank at Glenwood after four years in the post. Earl Herrick succeeds as cashier, Everett Rhoades becomes assistant cashier after accepting the post at the Glenwood post office. Change pending Postmaster White arranging details.
J J Krumenacher sold his restaurant and bakery in Glenwood to T Younker who has farm rental ties near Pacific Sup Iron the past year. Possession set for next Monday. Krumenacher built up a nice trade in four years with charge and will stay in Glenwood for the present.
The 14th stag night ball of the Glenwood bachelors club drew thirty couples with music by the Institution orchestra. John A McCluskey and Migs Grace Alkin led the grand march as dancing ended around 2 AM. Guests traveled from Omaha Plattsmouth and Pacific Junction for the outing.
Yesterday afternoon at Glenwood the Lewis home hosted a quilting party. Mrs Lewis and Mrs Ivory organized friends to sew friendship blocks into two quilts, one for each hostess, with donor names on every block to be treasured for years.
Ex County Clerk A C Gourly left Glenwood yesterday to join the Frisco railroad division headquarters at Sapulpa Indian Territory as a clerical employee. He formerly worked in railroad service and was an agent for the Wabash at Strahan and other locations. His family will remain in Glenwood. Sapulpa lies about 281 miles south of Kansas City with a population around four to five thousand.
Mrs. J. Krumenacher of Glenwood received a China silk shawl sent from the Philippines by her brother Will Reichow. He serves in the 13th U S infantry stationed at Manila and writes that natives called the weather cold, with a thermometer as low as 66 degrees above zero, amusing soldiers who saw Filipinos shivering as if freezing.
