Mrs. FE Wiley of Glenwood marked a January 1 1908 birthday with a reunion of six daughters scattered across the United States including Mrs. E Scown of Chicago and Mrs Carrie Walr d of Kansas City plus relatives in Boisa City Idaho and others all of Glenwood The clan counts six daughters 34 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren The scene reflects Mills County old settler life as families gather and share memories Meanwhile local notices seek farm help hay sales canning and marginal ads including a leather belt left at the Tribune office and opportunities to raise tomato plants for spring Crowes merchandise and farm rentals fill the page with brief community notices and sales
Mrs Bowman Cynthia Jane Bowman widow of Thos Bowman died Sunday in Omaha at her daughter Mrs John Hale’s home after long ill health. Remains brought to Glenwood for burial. funeral held at 12 o clock at her late home. Born 1832 she was past 75, mother of nine with three in Omaha and others in Salt Lake and Michigan. Husband died 1904. early Iowa settler near Keokuk. Also notes death of Alice Hume 14 from grip and heart trouble in Tabor.
Mrs. BR. G. Craig died December 20 at her Strahan area home after ten days of neuralgia of the heart. Funeral Sunday at 10 at Strahan Methodist Church with burial in Malvern cemetery. She left a husband and four young children, born February 29, 1876 to John and (Mrs.) Weihler south of Strahan. Mrs. George Short, about 26, died Thursday in Malvern after nine days of measles and complications. Funeral was held Saturday at 2 p.m.
