Glenwood bats stumble in Thurman tourney losses

The Glenwood boys, a picked up squad, lost all three Thurman tournament games. Tuesday Thurman won 6 to 4 with batteries Thurman Fletcher and Stalloway for Thurman and Anderson Masters for Glenwood. Wednesday Glenwood fell 1 to 0 to Sidney with Adams Claire and Ally Masters. Thursday morning Glenwood were defeated 7 to 3 by Tabor. The Aug 18 20 event features four fast teams, purses of 400, two games daily, no player restrictions, Coulter’s dog and pony show, Jackson Virginia Jubilee Singers, and Faylor’s 20 piece band performances.

Marriage License Issued to Andy Kerns and Rena Wright

The Sidney Terald reports a marriage license issued Wednesday to Andy Kerns and Miss Rena Wright. Clerk Harrison prepared the license and conducted the ceremony at 11 o'clock at his home. The couple, lifelong residents of their communities, will reside on the groom's father Silas Kerns farm. the bride is Simeon Wright's daughter.

Camp Meeting Next Week at Glenwood Holiness Churches

The annual Holiness church camp meeting begins in Glenwood on Thursday and lasts ten days. A large number of campers is expected with engaging meetings. It will be at the west school house park, the longtime site where the chau tauqua is currently held.

The Glenwood Canning company will begin operations next Monday with tomatoes as the first product packed. Manager Sawyer reports an encouraging outlook and a busy packing season, anticipating substantial employment opportunities.

Miss Elda Delphine Badham, a music teacher and daughter of Mr and Mrs Amazon Badham, died Aug 7 1908 after a long illness. Funeral at Warm Creek L D S church Aug 10. speaker was Charles Fry of Burlington. Immediate family and many friends mourn her loss in the community.
