Community happenings include socials at Mrs Saar’s home, Epworth League at the Methodist church, and a week of editor notes, property sales, homestead issues, and funeral attendance across Glenwood and nearby towns.
Daily dispatches indicate Walter I. Smith the district congressman is to be offered the United States district court judgeship. E. E. Hart of Council Staffs will seek Smiths House seat. The judgeship pays 6000 a year and is a life appointment.
Manager Elkins announces moving pictures start next Saturday at the opera house showing new colored films each Saturday night until further notice. Admission is 10 cents for children under 12 and 20 cents for adults. Also includes ads for cement work by E K Barber of Glenwoodly and a laxative syrup Oring Laxative Fruit Syrup promoting relief from chronic constipation. A sale notice lists six lots, a house, a stable, and a well of water via J F Ike at Hillsdale.
Mrs. Cynthia Ann Hibbs aged nearly 90 died Saturday at the home of her daughter in Glenwood after years of poor health. An early Mills county settler, she lived 54 years in the area, married to Saul Hibbs in 1837. Survived by eight children and 63 descendants. funeral Monday at the Congregational church with Rev. Skiles officiating.
An Omaha Auditorium event showcases many electrical products from national manufacturers. The program features wireless telegraphy, power plant demonstrations, a six room electric cottage by Omaha Electric Light & Power, and exhibits illustrating home uses of electricity along with music vaudeville and daily experiments. The show opens Monday evening May 4 and runs daily all week.

The Glenwood High School banquet for seniors and juniors occurred last Friday at the W. F. Will home. Decorations featured school colors and a T shaped table setting for forty five. Programs included instrumental solos, vocal and violin performances, several humorous sketches, and a closing sale note for the L. A. Stillwagon store.
