Lindsay Starts 33 Mile $750,000 Gas Transmission Line

Lindsay kicks off a 33 mile gas transmission line costing 750000 with expected completion by October 31. The project links Lindsay South Town Line to a spur north of Lifford and ties into the Toronto Montreal segment of the Trans Canada Pipe Line. Contractors are Mid-Canada for the Lindsay to Lifford leg, F E Shaw Ltd for Lifford to Pontypool, and R B Somerville for Pontypool to the Trans Canada Line.

The Lady Lions held their first meeting of the season at Mrs E Leisemer home. An executive for 1957 1243 was installed with President Mrs E Leisemer and officers including 1st Vice President Mrs 14 Win slow 2nd Vice President Mrs R Palmer Secretary Mrs G H Lancashire Treasurer Mrs J Wright. A costumed Halloween party is planned for October 26 and a tea and baking sale will be held October 26 at 3 p.m. at Mrs R Palmer home. The Bridge Club meets October 8 at 8 p.m. at Mrs J McMaster home. The cup and saucer draw was won by Mrs W Kennedy.
