Manvers Council Weighs Road Work Plans

Manvers Township Council met in Bethany on September 3 1957 with all members present led by Reeve Argue. Minutes from the August meeting were read and approved by Brown and Jakeman. The record notes a special meeting on August 14 and ongoing road work discussions.

Manvers council approves 1957 grants and highway subsidy

The Manvers council read and approved 1957 motions and minutes. Commun ications include overdue hospital accounts and grant details from Agriculture and Public Welfare. By Law 1339 on slaughterhouse health rules was read and signed. Road subsidy petition to the Department of Highways approved. Health unit permit discussion for slaughterhouses noted. Various road and tax payments listed. Meeting adjourned to October 8 at 1:30 p.m.

Cavan Township Council Debates Fire Protection and Mutual Aid

Deputy Reeve J H McKnight and Councillor George Howden met with the council to discuss fire protection. No action taken beyond scheduling a future meeting with the Chief Coordinator of Cobourg to clarify misunderstandings about mutual aid. Council adjourned to meet October 1, 1957, at the usual hour.
