Township council notes multiple contracts and budget items

The council discussed Hydro Electric twelve new contracts and renewal of J E Lewis insurance. The Department of Health insulin account and a $86.97 subsidy for the County Home for the Aged were noted. Ditching not performed by the township. a suitable hire for the position was secured. A motion to levy November 15 taxes with a one percent monthly penalty failed. penalties of four percent were not permissible. Building permits were discussed with Lorne Harris. Interim road subsidy forms were to be signed, snowplow tenders authorized, and Workman's Compensation coverage arranged for township staff. Road voucher No 8 for August totaled 3505.51. Various payments and council salaries were listed. The assessor will consult the township solicitor. Meeting set for October 7 at 8 p.m.

Clifford Larmer and family visited Mrs H D Armstrong in Toronto. The Wood party attended the wedding of Miss Nancy Armstrong in Toronto. The September Grace Presbyterian Church Ladies Aid met at Mrs. C Peebles home. President Mrs Lorne Farrow opened with prayer and the hymn What A Friend We Have In Jesus was sung. Mrs Mulligan read Proverbs 31 20 30, minutes were read, and treasurer Mrs Gerald Armstrong gave a report. Meeting closed with Mizpah benediction.

Fire damages Bailieboro home. $2000 loss

A bedroom in Mrs. Russell Kidd’s Bailieboro residence was damaged by fire of unknown origin last Saturday morning, causing about $2000 in damage. Bewdley Fire Department led by Chief Len Holdaway extinguished the blaze an hour after the alarm.
