N. & D. Plowing Match Results at Don Budd farm

The Durham and Northumberland Plowmen’s match was held on Wednesday October 2 at Don Budd’s farm along Highway 105 between Welcome and Dale. Frank Tinney Cobourg won the Esso Imperial Oil Championship for Tractor Prowing. Norman Lovshin Cobourg won the T Eaton Trophy. Bev Bickle Cobourg took Shell Oil prize in 10 inch furrow. Don Budd Port Hope led 12 inch class with Herb Lane prize. Barbara Maughan Cold Springs was the lone girl plowing in the juvenile class. prizes also awarded to teams from Bowmanville Campbellford Brighton and Peterborough among others. District officials thanked sponsors and planned 1958 venue in Brighton Township.

St Thomas Anglican Women Appeal Report On Deanery

The W A of St. Thomas Church met at Mrs H A Turner home Monday evening with President Mrs Reginald Fallis leading devotion. Scripture from Corinthians was read by Mrs Leslie Graham, and Mrs Turner acted in place of absent Mrs Douglas Sheppard.

Leadership Training School closes with invitation for final session

Forty persons attended the Leadership Training School in Millbrook Tuesday night. E J Loveday of the Springville congregation led a recreation period between study hours. The fifth and final session will be next Tuesday October 29 at 7 45 p m in St Andrews Church Hall. A dedication service will follow with refreshments served. All are welcome to attend even if new.

Jacob Henry Isbister died October 21 1957 at Peterborough Civic Hospital aged 86. Resting at J W Haw with service at Centreville Presbyterian Church at 2 pm. Interment Centreville Cemetery.
