On Whitsunday Pentecost Sunday the congregation reflected on Acts 2 14 21 with the 120 disciples in the Upper Room awaiting the Holy Spirit They recall the rushing wind tongues of fire and the threefold lesson: Pentecost began a new era of life giving power the disciples gained courage and eloquence under pressure and the church marked the birthday of its mission in Jerusalem Bethlehem was honoured and 3000 souls were added to the believers

Bantam Baseball Schedule for May to June 1958

Boat Races at Bewdley Draw Large Crowds

Sunday afternoon a large crowd numbering in the thousands gathered at Bewdley for boat races. Entries came from Ontario and the U S with many top racers. Four contestants toppled into cold water when their crafts upset.

Local Girls Win Softball Game at Fairgrounds

Millbrook ladies beat Bethany 10 to 8 in their home debut at the local fairgrounds last Thursday evening. The Millbrook squad lists players including Mary McDowell, Glenda Bain, Elaine Bain, Norma Earle, Eileen Powell, Helen Wright, Margaret Armstrong, Linda Hoge, Dorothy Hutchinson, Laureen Guthrie, and Elinore Crowley. They join a league with Courtice, Newcastle, and Orono, with Millbrook set to play in Courtice on Friday May 30.

Student’s Plans For Master’s In Psychology If Fellowship Won

The year she hopes to pursue a master’s degree in psychology if she earns a fellowship. She may work in child psychology, possibly in a clinical role with emotionally disturbed children. Last summer she worked with Miss Isabel Laird, professor of child psychology, testing babies and young children.

A small model car was observed on the road as a prank, then moved on under its own power.

Highway Traffic Act Amendments In Force

Legislation effective May 26 introduces new pedestrian and driver protections. Pedestrians face stricter rules at signal intersections and with Wait Walk signals. The Yield Right of Way rule now requires slowing to a reasonable speed and stopping if necessary. Passing on the right remains limited to specific situations such as overtaken left turns and multi-lane urban roads.
