Red Cross Blitz Campaign Planned by Village Branch

The Canadian Red Cross Society local branch announces a blitz fundraising drive in the Village to support disaster relief loan cupboard and sick-room supplies for community use. Residents are urged to give generously to aid the worthy cause.

Local Social Notes From Weekend Guests

Mr and Mrs Lew Barker of Toronto were weekend guests of Mr and Mrs Russell Smith. Wallace Humphries of Hayday visited Mr E L Morden and his sister Mrs P S Bentley. Mrs Wes Saunders of Millbrook with Mrs Paul Hillier of Peterborough joined Mrs Saunders sister Mrs Adams in New Toronto for the weekend. Constable George Smith and his daughter Catharine returned to Pem broke after visiting his parents. Mrs B B Dawson of Toronto returned with them. Mr Hal Argue is hospitalized with a heart condition. Mr and Mrs 4 W Sayles and daughter Mrs Jelly with Mrs Myrtie Chambers of Toronto were weekend guests with Mrs Wm West. birthdays noted for Mrs West March 16 and Mrs Jelly March 29. Mrs F J Burn and daughter Eleanor returned to Harbor Lake after a week with the Smiths.

St Thomas Ladies Plan Bake and Apron Sale

The Women's Auxiliary of St Thomas Anglican Church held a well attended monthly meeting at Mrs T A Campbell's home. President Mrs J W Hilton led devotions. The group approved a bake sale and apron sale for Saturday April 12 from 3 to 5 p.m. Mrs Turner hosts next, while the study book on Japan discussed Opportunities Unlimited and missionaries' work.

Heustin Accepts Call to Beamsville and Smithville Churches

Rev W H Heustin, seven years at Grace and Centreville Churches, will move Easter week to Beamsville and Smithville after Presbytery of Peterborough meeting in St Pauls. Induction set for Friday April 11 in Beamsville. Tributes noted his service as Clerk of Presbytery and moderator roles. Dinner hosted by St Pauls ladies.

March 5 Brownies Hold Regualr Meeting at Parish Hall

The Brownies met on March 5 at 4 15 in the Parish Hall with an opening, inspection and badge awards. Skating badges went to Pam Drury Linda Snelgrove Judy Jewison Janice Edwards Len ore Buckham Victoria Medd and Carol Abbott. Jo-Anne Agnew and Janice Edwards earned stamp collection badges. Jo-Anne Agnew also earned a thrifty badge. Janice Edwards became the new Sixer for the Sprites and Jo-Anne Agnew became Seconder. Pam Dury was Seconder for the Homes. They played a game and the meeting closed with taps. JO.
