South Monaghan Council Meeting March 7 1958

The regular meeting of the South Monaghan Council held March 7 1958 in the Township Hall opened with all members present and Reeve Ray Bothwell chairing. Minutes were read and adopted. Road voucher No 2 for 1008.20 was presented. tenders for crushing gravel and a new Wooduck Creek bridge were authorized. General accounts totaling 1212.19 were passed for payment. A ten-member ratepayer delegation sought fire protection. the petition was tabled until March 18. Other items included donations, memberships, and notices. Adjournment set for April 1 at 1.00 p.m.

Mary McDowell and Dorothy Hutchinson lost their high game positions as Eileen Powell showcased perfect form to win both high single and high triple. Standings show West Enders and Zion Liners leading as the season winds down with multiple teams listed and notable scores for men and women. The Red Cross Blitz is noted for Thursday March 27.

Council met March 5 1958 in Millbrook with Reev Hooton chair. Minutes from previous session read and adopted. Items discussed include seeds, health unit, emergency assistance, Toronto Hospital indigent education, a law clinic, a grant, and a by law to regulate land use with hearing notice set for Feb 28 1958.
