Two showers and gifts honoured Miss Georgina Kennedy of Millbrook before her marriage to Lorne Lequire on Saturday. Gifts included a trilight lamp two table lamps a scatter rug and English china. Presentations took place at Mrs. Gerald Snelgrove’s home RR 5 Peterborough and other showers were hosted by Mrs. Joseph Thorn and Mrs. Lavern Curtis while a kitchen shower was given by Mrs. John Challice RR 1 Millbrook.

CBC marks 20th anniversary of farm broadcasts in Ontario Quebec
Editors commentators and provincial agricultural officials met in the CBC studios Toronto to celebrate twenty years of CBC radio farm broadcasts in Ontario and Quebec. The event honored Dr. H. H. Hannan Orville J. Shugg and Robert G. Knowles as candles were blown out. The first farm broadcast aired May 1, 1939 introducing the Crang family and featuring farm facts developments and livestock reports still carried today.

CNR Engine No 81 Retires To Palmerston Park
Palmerston will honor CNR steam engine No. 81, retired after a long career starting as Grand Trunk Engine 1000 in 1910. Built by Canadian Locomotive Co. in Kingston, it served main lines until 1926, then branch passenger work and snowplow duties. No. 81 and its twin No. 86, long associated with the Wiarton Flyer, mark the end of an era in local rail history.

CNR Producing Films Of Maritimes
Canadian National Railways under Robert Ayre is producing colour motion pictures about the Maritime Provinces. Each film runs about 15 minutes with six minute television shorts derived from them. Free screenings are offered to travel bureaux clubs and groups. Attractions shown include Annapolis Valley South Shore Nova Scotia Cape Breton Fundy National Park the Tidal Bore and Magnetic Hill at Moncton.
