Inaugural Cavan Council Meeting Millbrook 1957
The Cavan Township Council held its first meeting January 14 1957 in Millbrook at 11 a.m. The oath of office was administered to Reeve Lloyd A Hooton Deputy Reeve John H McKnight and councillors Donald Cathcart Harold Bradburn and George Howden Rev A E Larke offered opening prayers. The Reeve and Deputy Reeve welcomed members and noted a new municipal garage and a debt-free year. The meeting adjourned to 1 15 p.m. and resumed with budget and correspondence discussions and committee appointments. Treasurer and collector reports were presented and approved, and council authorised attendance at several conferences. The next session was set for February 8 1957.
