Municipal Engineer Invited to Attend Council Meeting

Bethany Ontario January 14 1957 inaugural Manvers Municipal Council met with Reeve Earl Argue and a council including Deputy Reeve Lewis McGill and members Harvey Malcolm Henry Jakeman Robert Brown. The session opened 11 am under Deputy Reeve McGill in snowbound conditions. Minutes approved. By laws 1333 1334 read and signed. Funds approved for hospital donation and various accounts. Gorrie municipal engineer invited to Feb 5 meeting to discuss grant requirements for a municipal garage. Adjourned to Feb 5 1957 at 1 pm.

Millbrook Council Sets Year 1957 Committees and Orders

Millbrook on Jan 14 1957 opened its municipal year with oath of office for Reeve Geo F Harrington and Councillors Weldon Coulter Lavern Gibson Frank North and George Raymes. New committees include Streets bridges sidewalks and more with chairs named, and motions approved on communications snow plowing fees 250 and bylaw for library board with Rev W H Heustin appointment. The meeting also addressed street lighting request and bylaw actions.

The South Group of St Andrews W A held its January meeting at Mrs Albert Olan with 15 members and one visitor. Devotional led by Mrs Lawrence Winslow followed by scripture from Mark chapter 1 verses 16 35. Membership fees accepted. plans for a cookbook discussed. February meeting set for February 6 at Mrs Gerald Hubbeard s home with Benediction and refreshments.

Howard Tacey Dies at 90 in Pontypool Ontario

Entered Into Rest Howard Tacey of Pontypool Ontario died at Fair Weather Private Hospital Mill Brook on Monday January 21 1957 in his 91st year. He was the son of the late Mr and Mrs James Tacey and brother of the late Minnie Garnet. Funeral from J W Haw Funeral Home Millbrook on January 23 at 2 PM. Interment Fallis Cemetery.
