Mr. Lloyd Hooton was elected Reeve of Cavan Township for a fifth term on Monday. He faced opposition from council member Mr. Don Cathcart. In council races Joseph Burns led with 511 votes, followed by George Howden and Joseph Thorn. John Kinsman failed to regain a seat.
The Brownies met Wednesday November 27 at 4 15 p m in the Parish Hall with 21 present. After opening exercises they did semaphore knots and ball throwing. A discussion occurred in the Pow Wow ring and the gathering closed with taps. J O
Mrs A J Mulligan wintering in Maximo Ohio visited with Mr and Mrs Clifford Larmer on Sunday. Friends of Mrs Mary Weatherup regret her serious illness at Civic Hospital Peterborough. Mr and Mrs B Dawson George and Dorothy of Toronto visited the village weekend. Mr Geo Ellsworth and Mr F White were at Civic Hospital Peterborough last week to see Mr George Seney who remains in about the same condition.
Seven girls Linda Nelson Temple Nelson Gail Nelson Sandra Kennedy May Fickling Nancy Fallis and Norma White meet Fridays at 4 30 pm at Mrs Fickling's to donate two cents each until reaching one dollar. They gave the sum to Mrs P I Bentley for the Red Cross showing sacrifice over indulgence and praise for this thoughtful act.
