Sarathi Smith Gillies 71 wife of Ebenezer Gillies Sr. Beaver resident died at family home after a weeklong pneumonia illness. Born Feb 22, 1861 she married in 1879 and leaves eight sons and daughters, a grandson and great grandchild, eight siblings, and many relatives. Funeral held at West Ward Beaver chapel with services led by Bishop Wesley Farrer. Interment Mountain View Cemetery.

Early day mining man of Beaver Co dies in Salt Lake
The death of Thomas Weir in Salt Lake City on Sunday June 19 ends a notable Beaver County mining career of over twenty years. Weir worked with Samuel Newhouse in state mining development and held a large interest in Newhouse properties in west Beaver County. He financed and directed the spur railroad between Newhouse and Milford during the area’s boom days.

Mrs. Matilda Hardy of Compton California died June 20 at her home. Born in Fillmore sixty eight years ago she was a cousin of United States Senator King of Utah. Survived by sons Elmer Lorin and Milo Hardy and daughter Mrs Donald Coon all of Compton. Former Beaver County residents moved to Milford around 1910 and had many local friends. Married to William M.
