County schools to get three months of Red Cross nurse time

Milford public schools will host a Red Cross nurse for three months in the coming school year with funds approved by the County Board of Education. The nurse will work at Milford and Beaver schools, duties include student health exams, home hygiene instruction, and sickroom care, with adult classes.

Samuel G Dye Garners Weber Support for Governor Bid

Weber county born Samuel G Dye secured Weber County Republican Central Committee backing for governor at a June 16 meeting. Dye, a longtime Republican and banker, has served as Weber County clerk, bank cashier, and Orange-key official roles in local business and church groups. The committee vote 44 to 14 favored Dye with 18 absent and 5 scattering, pledging unified support for the Weber delegation at the state convention.

Ramona Show Adds Musical Prelude at Orpheum

A three day Ramona engagement at the Orpheum will feature a musical prelude led by manager S. Buschmeier. Dan Ferguson of Hanging Rock orchestra will sing, Stan Atkin Jr from Walla Walla will play violin, and Dick Kelly will perform piano.

Sprinkling Rules Enforced by Milford Watermaster

Mystery accident claims Earl Tanner in Beaver

Earl Tanner, 25, son of the city marshal, died after a four day unconscious spell following a mysterious accident near Beaver. He was found unconscious beside a canal after riding a mule and leading a sheep herd animal, with initial X rays showing a skull fracture and possible shoulder injury. He remained unconscious as doctors evaluated his injuries.

Prominent Woman Visits Old Friend in Milford

Mrs. Teresa Werner aunt of Rudolph Valentino, who left one third of his fortune to Valentino, arrived in Milford Tuesday evening with her granddaughter. At the station they were greeted by Mrs. A. J. Atkin, longtime friends separated for twenty years. Mrs. Werner's sister Mrs. Richard Hudnut of France was expected but rushed to New York due to Mr. Hudnut’s illness.

The Ramona tale by Helen Hunt Jackson is praised as a classic and as a social vehicle. The Orpheum presents the story this Sunday with Dolores Del Rio in the title role, produced by Inspiration Pictures and Edwin Carewe, touted as a significant film for the new year.
