Fifty five boys expected to register July 1

Beaver county and surrounding areas prepare for the second wartime selective service registration on July 1. Harold Merehall of Minersville travels to Fort Noughes Tube 24 for induction. Milford and Minersville host local registration offices with others at Beaver county sites. Registration runs 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. for eligible youths turning 21 since the October 10, 1939 act.

Local Woman Is Highly Honored In State VFW

Mrs. Charles F. Decker of Milford was elected junior vice president of the Utah VFW Auxiliary at the Stane encampment ending Sunday. She becomes third in line for the presidency, succeeding Milford’s Mrs. L. Waddingham. Also elected were Mrs. Harry L. Thomas president, Mrs. Vernon Mordaant senior vice president, and S. Pitchforth Milford district president. State leaders for 1941-42 include Wayne F. Carlois commander, Barton E. Jones senior vice commander, and Carlos J. Badger adjutant.

Body of Mrs Weidner to Arrive Sunday in Milford

The News reports from the Southern Utah Mortuary that the body of Mrs Peter Weidner, former Milford resident, will arrive Sunday afternoon on No. for interment in the local cemetery after a viewing at the mortuary. Bankers of State Hold Convention at Grand Canyon

Bankers from Milford Beaver and Salt Lake City represented Milford State Bank and Beaver City branch at the Ural Bankers association convention held Thursday through Saturday near the Grand Canyon. Popular Young Couple Take Marriage Vows

Miss Almeda Edwards and Don C. Holbrook were married June 12 at 6 00 p m in a candlelit ceremony at the Edwards home in Milford with Bishop Laurence Peterson officiating. The couple, attended by Miss Maxine Holbrook and bridesmaids, and James McMahone as best man, hosted a reception for family and friends afterward.

Salts like water glass or lime water can preserve eggs for months. sodium silicate requires mixing one quart with nine quarts of boiled water and storing in a cleaned crock to preserve about fourteen dozen eggs.

Transient Cafe Helper Dies of Heart Attack

Leo B Simon a about ten year old transient died of a heart attack in the White Spot cafe kitchen Saturday evening. He had worked six weeks as dishwasher and part time cook. Burial was Tuesday in the real cemetery per family in Chicago. Once a brake man on an Indiana railroad, he lived in Indianapolis and faced misfortune after job loss and the death of his wife. He was en route to California when he died.

Utah to Register Young Men for Military Training

Utah to conduct selective service registration on Tuesday July 1 with about 180000 men expected. Local boards will operate at community headquarters and may use other public buildings if needed to handle heavy turnout.
