Additional CCC recruits arrive at Milford camps

Twenty eight new Civilian Conservation Corps entrants from Salt Lake and Garfield arrive in Milford and split between Beaver County camps. Captain Timothy Sapia Bosch, new Wah Wah Springs commandant, arrives to oversee Desert Range camp 1240. Names of Milford and Desert Range enrollees are listed along with arrival details.

Farm Loan Applications Open for Agricultural Adjustment Act

Local federal farm loan group announces availability of application blanks for loans to purchase, reduce, or refinance farm mortgages under the Agricultural Adjustment Act. George P. Alfalfa Weevil Damage in Beaver County Stays Low

Up to now this season the alfalfa weevil has caused little or no damage in Beaver County continuing a trend noted in local agricultural reports.

Pierian Club Meets At Mrs. Clay Home For Study

Mrs. L G Clay hosted the Pierian club Monday afternoon with a Government lesson and a current article read by Miss Rozetta Koch. Refreshments followed as ten members and several invited guests attended. Summer heat is noted with rapid vegetation growth after a mild lag between winter and warm spell.

Beaver County camps move and plan wide fencing project

A Navy medical officer joins the Beaver county camps to support operations between the two sites about 90 miles apart. Camp conditions are favorable with ample water and ongoing relocation to a new high altitude site, Camp Delano, while plans call for 40 000 cedar posts and extensive fencing across about 120 square miles to support winter range conservation research led by Dr. George Stewart. Camp move from Little Reservoir to near the Tushar ranger station is confirmed, with local officials noting Milford hospitality and overall good health among campers.

Milford Junior League Narrow Win Over Minersville

The Milford Junior League defeated Minersville 13 to 12 on Saturday. Meyers drove in the winning run with a single hit by Roberts in the ninth, after Minersville set six-run first inning. Fraiser and Albrecht pitched well, Roberts, Coleman, and Gilbert led Milford at the plate. A Tuesday win over Beaver Juniors followed 17 to 11.

Goodwill Tour to Ely Planned by Civics Clubs

A special meeting of the Associated Civics Clubs of Southern Utah discussed a goodwill tour to Ely Nevada and a Barstow sign project. Directors including Reid Gardner Ben Cameron J C Bowman and others named planned dates and arrangements with Senator Jefferson and L A Wynaught coordinating. Mrs Clara Vaseley and her daughter visited in Milford with Mrs Mattie Ferguson.

Beavers County Fish and Game Club Improves Rearing Pond

Volunteers from Milford and Beaver joined the Beaver County Fish and Game club to raise the dam at the rearing pond below the Beaver Canyon reservoir. A large turnout produced a well finished project to advance trout from fry to catchable size. A barbecue by Wayne Richards and Arthur Meredith followed the work, with many locals from Milford and Beaver assisting.

Milford Loses as Cedar City Beats Home Team Big 20 to 7

In a league doubleheader Milford suffered a lopsided 20 to 7 defeat at home against Cedar City. Ten Eyck and Turner highlighted Milford errors as Cedar City cruised with strong hitting. A second game pitting Minersville vs St George ended 3 to 2 for Minersville, solidifying their lead.

Pioneer Eliza Ferguson is Honored in Milford Funeral

Funeral services for Elizabeth Huntington Ferguson widow of Dan Ferguson Utah pioneer were held Sunday in Milford. Speakers praised her long church and nursing work while family details note five surviving children and ties to Silver Reef Tintic Park City and Salt Lake. Burial followed in the local cemetery with many relatives present.
