County Agent LewMar Price reports light frosts on Monday and Tuesday nights. Alfalfa was spared due to growth, and potatoes were mostly not yet up. Frost occurred in Beaver valley in streaks, with varying impact across sections.

Bad Check Artist Is Given Sentence
W. W. Webster of Cedar County is serving a jail sentence for writing a bad check. He was arrested in Delta by Deputy Sheriff Ted Krotiholm at the Milford Hotel’s request after obtaining an endorsement from a Milford Hotel employee. Judge Bert Nichols fined him thirty five dollars or thirty five days. he chose jail and is held locally.

Milford Lions Plan Dance to Buy Band Uniforms

Lawn Party At Weber Home Hosts Legion Auxiliary Guests
The American Legion Auxiliary and Milford Post American Legion members attended a lawn party Tuesday at the Jacob Weber home. The event concluded a campaign contest with five hundred as the game, eight tables in play. Prizes for high scores went to Dr. R. Parrish and Mrs. Charles Miller, while low scores honors went to Mrs. Alvin Baker and Lee Brown. Refreshments of ice cream cake and punch were served as guests departed in good spirits.

State man checks up on car owners
The motor vehicle inspector from Salt Lake visited from Wednesday to Sunday last week and marked several owners for violations of state regulations. He faulted use of plates from other cars and the use of only one license plate, noting plates were taken and discarded.

Nevada Man Dies in Local Hospital
Philip Mathews Baker, 71, oil resident of Baker Nevada, died Friday evening at Milford hospital after illness en route to Salt Lake for diagnosis. He leaves a wife and several children. Funeral services were held at Garrison Sunday. A familiar Baker figure, he owned the Baker ranch for years and was born in Lexington Missouri, an early settler.

Blaze at Main Street dry cleaners causes minor injuries
Fire alarms alerted Tuesday at Mrs. Kelly's Main Street shop where fumes from naptha cleaning liquid caused a blaze. Firefighters arrived quickly and extinguished the fire with no structural damage. Bill Cochran suffered a bad burn to his arm and Mrs. Peckham had minor arm burns. Initial reports of explosive gas were mistaken.

Town Upgrades Water System With Bigger Pipes
The town advances improvements this week under Water Engineer Ted Kronholm. A four inch pipe replaces three inch on Eighth Avenue, a new fire hydrant goes in at Sun and South Utah, and two electric pumps are acquired for town use and the school lawn.
