Four million pounds of surplus agricultural commodities were supplied to Utah relief rolls by the Agricultural Adjustment Administration and Utah Relief Administration since October 1. The aid, supervised by the surplus commodity corporation, included apples, dried beans, citrus, prunes, onions, evaporated milk, and various cereals.
A Western Air Express plane, with eleven aboard, has been largely accounted for as searches near Milford proceed. Four two‑aerater Marines planes return to base, while two bombers work to repair and refuel. C W Love Jr of St George was elected president with James M Sangent Jr Panguitch as first vice president and L A Wynaught Milford as second vice president. Other officers include T W Jensen Mount Pleasant P J Fennell Eureka George M Hunt Bicknell and L L Taylor Moab on the executive committee. The directors will meet in Salt Lake City January 9 to elect a secretary.
Milford Volunteer Fire Department sponsored the second annual Christmas treat fund drive. Mrs. Lloyd Kohler and Mrs. Sam G. Hickman led solicitation of businesses and individuals, raising a sum to give 400 children bags of candy and a large orange. Santa distributed treats to youngsters gathered on Main Street. funds also supported Christmas boxes for several families. The fire department earned community praise for the effort.
Mrs. Martell Aldridge of Ogden and Mrs. Lois Waddingham of Milford led state department officers of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary as they guided four local members to Cedar City to establish an Auxiliary to Juniper Post No. 8510. Two sessions were held, then refreshments were served and a social gathering followed. Milford participants included Mrs. Waddingham, Mrs. W. G. White, Mr. Owen Stoker, Mrs. Bi U'Ren, and Mrs. G. F. Decker.
Alvin H. Baker, Milford high school music director, traveled to Salt Lake City last week, then to Vernal, returning home early Christmas morning after the trip.
