Mrs. Lottie Gronning of Milford is among the pmo contestants tied for prizes in the Salt Lake Tribune's Tangle Town contest. Tie-breaker puzzles will be mailed early in January, with Mrs. Gronning still in the running for the top prize.
The Milford Tigers defeat Enterprise 35 28 on Milford floor in a league opener. Crane sparked the win with a burst of points in the third period. Next up, the Tigers host the Millard Eagles on January 7 with tickets available at LaMar Outen’s Corner Drug.
Funeral services were held for Alfred Kenneth Weston 35 who died suddenly at 11 p.m. last Saturday. Born Jan 1 1914 in Newhouse he was a Union Pacific railroad engineer and BAC music scholar with ties to Milford Meadow and Cedar City. He is survived by his parents a estranged wife three children a sister and a brother. burial followed at Milford cemetery.
The Milford LDS Ward will celebrate its forty six year birthday with a large party at the Milford LDS Chapel on Wednesday January 11. A cafeteria supper runs 6 30 to 8 p m and Bishop George C Goodwin will oversee the birthday cake sale. Various organizations run booths while entertainment includes The Family Album Nonsense School a Gay Nineties Review and Minstrel Show with fashion and dance acts.

Vernon Sroasch and Melvin Sullivan, youths involved in the Toward Manzione robbery near Parowan, were sentenced to death by firing squad. Judge Hoyt set the execution for dawn February 16. Sullivan showed no emotion. Praasch appeared shaken.
