Mr. and Mrs. B. T. Walker are leaving Milford for Laramie Wyoming after contributing to community life since his arrival as supervisor at the A T T relay station. Locals recall their friendly presence and numerous friendships formed.
J C Penney will distribute a Christmas bonus during the week before Christmas to over 30 000 employees including Milford staff. The board approved 1998 remuneration to recognize service and loyalty. Full year associates receive two weeks extra salary. shorter-tenure workers get a proportional payment. Burts Finkinson of Cedar City Branch Agricultural College was in Milford last week coordinating BA C talent program plans for the high school.
Milford’s new library project failed to attract bids within the WPA funded budget. Five bids exceeded funds, prompting the board to split the process and award excavation to Vernon C Tolhoe of Provo at a nominal yard rate while other bids remained high.
Dr Gerrie of the Utah State Health department spoke at the Minersville Parent-Teachers association meeting last Thursday on preventive dentistry. He challenged the idea that children’s teeth are less important than adults and cited evidence from the field.
Milford High School showcased The Magazine Princess under Director Alvin H. Baker after a year’s lapse. The cast of 120 featured Marjorie Casterline Don Elmer Joss McKnight Philip Carlisle Ruth Berry Dan Gillies Jim Hickman Virginia Ryan Jean Moore Alyce Griffiths Bill Kirk Theo Zabriskie with standout dancing led by Josephine White.
Ruth Chapter No. 6 C. E. S. held a December 20 installation with retiring matron Dora M. Casterline aiding by Eva Evans. New officers include Laura L. Cates as Worthy Matron and Howand W. Gon pill as Worthy Patron with multiple appointed members. The event featured blue and white Christmas decor and a joyful outlook for the coming year.
Mrs Tom Norris 45 of Thermo Utah died December 18 from a stroke. Funeral services were held Monday at Milford LD chapel. Burial took place in Lon cemetery under the care of Southern Ursh mortuary. Survived by Ollie M Norris of Monee Will Norris of Thermo and two daughters Tom Prski of Tamona and peorgia of Redonde.
Arnold J. Low announces the Beaver County Agricultural Conservation Association will elect county committee men to administer the national farm program in Beaver County for 1939. Election Tuesday December 27 in three districts. One member and one alternate chosen at 1 00 pm in the county courthouse Minersville Milford and adjourned to select remaining alternates.

Fanny Carlsen, active as local engineer for Utah beet growers, left last weekend for an indefinite stay in southern California while helping in the beet industry transition.
Milford high school beat Cedar City 30 to 25 as the Milford offense built an early 18 point lead. The game featured solid offense from Milford with coach Floyd Kotter guiding the team from the sideline and a stronger second string showing in the Cedar City rematch.

Five new men of Company 100 were discharged from camp, and three longtime buddies left with regret. Lieutenant Rupert Ingram left for Alabama with his family, and Lieutenant Julius Sabback takes command in his absence. Enrollee James F. Stewart, a top pianist, has returned to Salt Lake City to attend school.

Mr and Mrs BR O Powk arrived in Milford to assume supervision of the local AT T relay station succeeding B T Walker who moves to Laramie Wyoming with his family. Powk has spent about 18 years with the company in Salt Lake City and will relocate as assistant manager. The Powks purchase the Walkers home and will be welcomed by the community.
Milfort Volunteer Fire Department sped to Bud Handley’s home just before noon Monday and knocked down a Christmas tree blaze that could have spread to curtains and other items. Firefighters extinguished the flames and prevented further damage.
