Veterans Return Good Will Medals In Torpedo Plan

John J Skillman of Miami and other U S war veterans want to cast their Japan donated good will medals into the head of a torpedo. The eight men including Representative James van Zande of Pennsylvania received the medals during a 1936 good will tour of Japan as Veterans of Foreign Wars representatives. When hostilities began, Skillman contacted Van Zandt now in the Navy and they planned to reuse the medals in a torpedo head.

Singing treat brings cheer to local play school classes

Singing Treat The News reports Mrs. J. B. Moore hosted a Christmas singing event for two play school classes. The children sang a number of appropriate songs and behaved very well, reflecting credit on Mrs. Moore for her work with them.

Christmas Party Held by Noble Grands Club

The Past Noble Grands club of the local Rebekah lodge hosted a Christmas party at 1.0.0. hall on Wednesday evening last week for about 20 guests. Tables were decorated in Christmas colors with lit tapers and small trees. After a hot dinner, games were played with teams led by Dora Casterline and Sadie Litchfield. The organizing committee included Vena Wilson Gladys Coleman Virginia Wren and Gertrude Yount. Milford prepares for Christmas with community tree and lights

Milford volunteers erect a community tree near Union Pacific park as Santa is slated to visit Tuesday at 7 pm. Local groups coordinate the event with the American Legion Auxiliary, Lions Club and Telluride Power workers handling solicitations and decorating. The Red Cross will receive excess contributions, and a star on the water tower lights the town. judging of decorations closes Christmas Eve, with a church program planned Sunday evening.

Work To Continue At Wah Wah Mine

Despite the death of Captain R C Dugdale last week, Wah Wah Mining company plans to continue and intensify development in Western Beaver county. James A Dugdale, known as Jim, his brother, says the project will proceed as he takes charge. Dugdale died at 57 in Salt Lake City from heart trouble. He was born in Wisconsin and served with British intelligence in World War I.

Milford boys reported safe amid Pacific action

Two Milford youths feared dead in Pacific activity were declared safe this week. Allen Bingham told his parents from Midway Island that he is well with a battalion of marines. Owen Smith Jr. sent a brief letter saying he is well aboard a cruiser, though the envelope lacks clear identification of his unit.

Navy Volunteers Join Ranks From South Milford Area

Three Navy Volunteers Leonard Vestal Nathan Barnes and Harold Howard are new recruits from the region. Vestal is son of Mrs Orrin R Williams of South Milford Barnes is linked to Glen Barnes currently serving on the battleship Pennsylvania and Howard a former CCC enrollee from South Milford will await his enlistment papers to be signed by his mother in Ohio.
