Guilty Plea in Milford Garage Robbery Case

Edward Tomer and Harold Guyman pleaded guilty to the Milford Garage robbery and waived a preliminary hearing. Bond set at 2500 each, they were jailed in Beaver awaiting district court. The crime involved robbing thirty dollars from Milford Garage after a gun threat to William Williams.

Library proposal at city schools P T A meeting

M J Andrews principal of the High School urged a school library and funds through an entertainment planned for later. J L Anderson announced playground equipment arrival and a student fundraiser raised twelve dollars for tulip bulbs. six hundred bulbs will be planted. The program featured grade band numbers, vocal and instrumental solos, a cello solo, and a Christmas Spirit talk, presided by Mrs C G Parrish.

Ben Cedric of McGill Nevada spent several days visiting his father-in-law J. W. Clay. He traveled with his wife and daughter Ton twelve who is already recognized as a violinist of remarkable talent. Ton will soon leave for Hollywood to finish music studies and begin an engagement with a radio broadcasting company.

Court terms set for 1931 by Judge LeRoy H. Cox

Judge LeRoy H. Cox announces Fifth judicial district terms for 1931. Washington county opens January 26 with law and motion days March 11 and June 22. Tron county terms in February and November. Beaver county terms in March May and August. Millard county law and motion days in February and July. Gil County terms begin March and end December with law and motion days throughout.

Examiners Close Up Bank At St George

The Dixie Stockgrowers Bank failed to open this morning on orders from the state bank examiner. Consolidation talks with Bank of St George and other local banks fell through though directors expected a deal. Officials say there is ample security to pay on the dollar, and a state banking official will assume control soon.

New Inhabitants Reported in West Beaver County

Milford Hospital records show three newborns during the push week. A son to Ross Lung on December 9, a daughter to Ray Mills on December 13, and a son to Wayne Carter on December 14. The Mills and Lang families reside in Milford while the Carters come from Minersville. All babies are healthy and mothers convalescing.

Lions and Dairymen Hold Big Turnout Independence Party

An attendance of over four hundred at the Lions and Escalante Dairymen and Farmers Association gathering in Minersville boosted the new agricultural group. The evening featured dancing from nine to midnight, a program of readings and music, a late supper, and speakers including Minersville Mayor J. H. Eyre and others from Beaver County.

Funeral services for Charles Draper held in Moroni

Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the East Ward Chapel Moroni for Charles Draper who died Wednesday night after a final operation. Milford Mt. Pleasant and Moroni participants included prayers by Carl Goodwin, a Milford duet by Helen Bird and Ruben Johnson, and hymns by local choirs. Interment followed in Moroni cemetery. Turkey shipments from Milford head east for Christmas market

Growers of west Beaver county sent 460 dressed turkeys from Milford to eastern markets Saturday afternoon. The shipment, handled by the North West Turkey Growers Association via the Utah Poultry Association, aims for good prices though final payouts are not yet settled. Barber Injured In Slipping Incident At Shop

Claud Trenholm, a local barber, slipped while folding a cot in the rooms above his shop. The cot closed on his thumb, severing it below the knuckle. The thumb was promptly dressed at the hospital.

Christensen Named Forest Ranger for Big Flat District

H M Christensen will transfer from Beaver on March 15 1991 to assume duties as Forest Ranger of the Big Flat District. He replaces Elbert L Cox who moves to Richfield. Christensen has aided survey work along the district boundary and helped plant trees and build a Forest Way, making him well qualified for the post.

Robbers captured by enraged victim in Dalton hold up

The Dalton service station on Rockville Road was robbed late Friday night by three men. One thief was captured by an enraged victim. the other two fled through Zion park and toward Kanab. Dalton pursued and captured a second suspect, turning him over to officers. the stolen car was found, and the pair were returned to St. George and jailed in Washington County. Deputy Sheriff Andrews of Salt Lake brought them to the city for holding.

Anheuser-Busch Plans 2 Million Yeast Plant in New Jersey

August A. Busch announced a $2 000 000 yeast factory to be built in East Brunswick Township Middlesex County New Jersey by Anheuser Busch Inc. The plant will make the company the second largest yeast producer in the United States with a third plant to be built in the West. location and start date not decided.

Iron County authorities report a Tularemia case in Cedar City. Mrs Moroni Walker contracted rabbit fever after handling a hunted rabbit with a small hand wound. Dr Prestwich confirmed the infection via blood test.
