The ruminator proposes lofty dreams with minimal thought, scattering a few bouquets while aims stay above the sod. They plan to enjoy sparking moments and watch the sparks fly as others react.
A Denver sales rep tours Milford area praising local transport for A T F items and extolling regional hospitality. The piece notes Mr and Mrs Samers in Castle Dale, Emery County Roundup crowds, dances, and a weekend trip framed by storms, gardens, and old friendships, ending with two doctors awaiting Tuesday morning.
Branch Agricultural college director Henry Oberhansley announces readiness for fall opening on Monday September 9 with enrollment expected to be the largest in the school's history. Six new faculty replace transfers and resignations as Summer Hatch joins the staff along with H Hunsaker and librarian Miss Marie Tinsley. Lieutenant Charles B. Drake also joins after teaching at the University.
Seven South Milford and Milford Future Farmers traveled to Logan for the annual state Future Farmers gathering. Accompanied by LaVell Parsons and Alvin H. Baker, they joined attendees including Secretary of Agriculture Wallace and other notable figures. Participants included Ray Fisher Tom Stewart Don Elmer Coy Williams Jess McKnight from South Milford and Bud Baxter Dick Thompson from Milford.
Eligible students at Branch Agricultural College Cedar City Utah may receive part time wages from federal funds. Allocation equals 12 percent of October 15 1924 enrollment. Applicants must show high academic ability and financial need and apply at the director’s office before the school year begins.
Beav er County school opening is postponed to September 16 due to bus delivery delays. Readying the coming year teachers will be listed next week. Minersville 4 H clubs hosted a dinner August 1 with county and local guests. They shipped the first full carload of barred Plymouth rocks to Los Angeles.
Milford hosts an all community event on Friday September 6 organized by the South Milford Community club. Residents from Milford and surrounding towns are invited to showcase farm and garden produce in the displays and food sale in the women’s department. The afternoon features horse racing children’s races and other sports with refreshments of ice cream candy hot dogs and lemonade. Ivan McKnight serves as president of the Community club and general committee chair Ellen Gates and Mrs Carl Elmer with Mrs P B Fisher are associate members.
EF L Hall and E F L with their wives and Baby Hall arrived in Milford Monday to reopen the Milford bakery. They came from Ely Nevada and have prior baking experience in Nevada western Idaho and Washington.
The American Legion Auxiliary plans a Flower Show and Silver Tea next Thursday September 5 from 2 to 5 PM at the L D S church. Flowers may be brought to the church between 10 and 12 to be placed on display. Awards will be given, with entertainment during the afternoon. Public invited.
Milford 4-H groups depart Wednesday on a two day outing in the Beaver mountains. Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen directs the activity with county 4-H leaders aiding. Union Pacific introduces stewardess service on the Los Angeles Limited coach and tourist car section. Registered nurses with uniformed appearance attend guests at no charge, aiming to assist mothers with children and general passenger needs. Service began August 21 from Omaha and August 23 from Los Angeles.
Funeral services for Mae Heileser Smith 52 wife of Julius Smith Salt Lake City were set for Thursday at 12 40 pm in the Capitol Hill L D S ward chapel She died Sunday in a Salt Lake hospital Born in Elsinore December 10 1882 she was the daughter of Nils and Hannah Heil eser She had lived in Salt Lake City 24 years including a period in Milford where her husband a railroad man was well known Surviving are her husband two daughters and her mother with other relatives listed
Carlton Culmsee, journalism instructor at Brigham Young University, signs a letter authorizing an appearance in The News about the fall opening of the college. BYU, with about 2200 students, offers five colleges, a graduate school, 33 departments, and 1400 courses. autumn registration is September 27-28-30.
