Vets Advisory Service Days Are Changed at Tinley Park Hall

Temporary schedule reduces weekly veteran advisory sessions to three dates this year November 18 December 9 and 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Charles Danielson of the Illinois Veterans Commission will assist veterans widows and their children with benefits and changes including expanded vocational rehabilitation and garnishment rules for federal and military pay. Regular Tuesdays resume January 6.

Sandburg clubs sell fruit to fund activities

Two Carl Sandburg student clubs will take orders for fresh fruit delivered to homes through November 21 to raise funds for their spring banquet. SOCO at Thornton Community College will discuss physical activity with Kay Clauson speaking on fitness for those over 40 and demonstrating exercises.

Fulton Council Leaders Chosen

Sixth grader Dale Ebeling was elected president of the Bert Fulton school student council in Tinley Park. Vice president Tom Eubanks and secretary John Whitman also named with Lisa Farley, Sherry Brueck as advisors and Gail Sicher, Brendon Trant as faculty sponsors. October activities included a Halloween contest, PTA Halloween taffy apple sale, Hamburger Day, and student entertainments from kindergarten classes under Gail Wright and Sue Petreilius. The month featured an archery demonstration by Tinley Park archery club, a fire equipment demo by the Tinley Park Volunteer Fire Department, and a safety talk by Officer Thomas Hayes.

Health Ed Staffs Hear State Speaker

Ward Iuan assistant to Thomas Janeway Illinois Health Education Specialist and consultant was the featured speaker at a health education meeting conducted by Consolidated School District 230. He spoke to health education staffs from A. A. Stagg and Carl Sandburg high schools and area elementary schools about curriculum teaching problems and the Illinois Critical Health Problems and Comprehensive Health Education Act.

Bremen students earn graduation credits by serving as aides across school departments.
