H J Saunders of this city was in a Sunday night auto accident two miles from Florida while returning home. His Ford carried five other men. A rival vehicle crowding the road forced Saunders off into the weeds hitting a rock, damaging the steering gear and rolling the car. No one was seriously hurt. They reached the city in other cars and Saunders called for a tow.

Two fires in Middletown hours apart kept firemen active during the day. A general alarm summoned crews to Courage Street by Tony Latino where a blaze burned in a building. the cause remains uncertain though chemicals were involved. A second still alarm drew units to Fulton Street where a small fire, smothered by chemical use, caused minor damage to a pile of refuse.
Several speed violations and a drunken driving charge are listed with fines ranging from five to fifty four dollars. A New Yorker in Sullivan counts city regulations and fixes a license plate, paying a five dollar fine.
