Apoplexy Suspected in Death at Hillside Cemetery
The body of Frank C. Herrick, 32, was found under a tree in Hillside Cemetery at 4 15 yesterday afternoon by Abraham Benner. The coroner and Health Officer Hanmer deemed apoplexy the probable cause after examining the scene and the body. Evidence nearby included a silver cane, a pipe, a cent piece, and torn papers with scribbles suggesting a struggle and possible attempts to write notes. Herrick, born 1861 in Middletown, had a history of prior suicide attempts and chronic paralysis since a gun injury decades ago.
