Despondent woman survives suicide attempt at home

Local Men Indicted By Grand Jury in Middletown Case
Daniel Holland and Harold Walsh of Middletown were indicted on charges of second degree rape and second degree assault. They pled not guilty and are held on 1500 bail. The alleged offense involved a 15 year old girl on February 7 in Middletown. Also noted, Anna Brown, wife of Spencer Brown of Moodza, indicted for second degree assault for allegedly assaulting teacher Helen Rourke of Highland Falls, with a verdict previously awarding Rourke 2000.

Arrested On Arson Charge In Washingtonville
James Connell, 25, a known Washingtonville resident, was arrested late Saturday on arson charges linked to a fire at the Hallock & Nicoll horse stable in Washingtonville on January 10 about 11:30 pm. Detectives from the Schindier National Detective Agency and Patrolman Peter M. Bennett secured the arrest amid a prior fire at the same building. Four horses perished in the blaze and one horse was rescued but badly burned.

Chas Bull Dies at Hamptonburgh Engineer Stricken
Charles Bull, a civil engineer born September 6 1834, died suddenly at his brother Ebenezer Bull’s home in Hamptonburgh aged 82. He spent years in Mexico and Texas and lived in Hamptonburgh for 16 years. Survived by Ebenezer Bull and sisters Mrs Anna Weeks and Mrs Martha Craft. Private funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon.
