First Shot Failed, Second Kills Horseman of Goshen
Edward DeBruce a 34 year old Oklahoma City resident and Goshen stock farms horseman shot himself in his room after losing his remount position and enduring illness and unemployment. Police found him Friday night with two bullet wounds, a verdict of death by his own action, and his body to be shipped to Arkansas City after a telegram from Oscar DeBruce. DeBruce was well known and liked in Goshen, known for a cheerful disposition.

Port Jervis man Private William E. Bross of the 307th Field Artillery TSih Division died February 11 in France from bronchial pneumonia. He left Port Jervis last April and reached France by June 1, saw fighting, and was shelling the Germans when the order to cease firing came as the war ended. A telegram to his father F W Bross of Hing Street confirmed the death.

Blaze at Asbury Park Levels Hotels in $200,000 Fire
Asbury Park New Jersey February 24 five hotels and several cottages and garages were destroyed by a costly fire. Incendiaries are suspected as the blaze started in the basements of the Waldorf and Fifth Avenue hotels. High winds blew down fire signal wires delaying alarms. Firemen fought the blaze for two hours, destroying Sunset Hall Maryland Waldorf Fifth Avenue and Parkview hotels a cottage occupied by Daniel W Sisson and other outbuildings. Three Sunday morning fires have occurred at the resort in the last three weeks.

Foreign plot suspects held without bail in Wilson threat
