Anniversary of Knights of Pythias Celebration at Castle Hall
Born February 22 1732 and died December 14 1799 the anniversary of the Knights of Pythias was held at Castle Hall with Lancelot Lodge No 19 hosting 200 members and guests. Supper at 630 preceded an evening program featuring orchestral selections, solos, recitations, and a patriotic address by Rev Maxwell W Rice. Committee praise followed for extensive planning and the event showcased entertainment and dancing. Local church action opposed Foley Donahee Sunday movie bill and Walker Kiernan Sunday baseball bill in a First Congregational Church meeting.

The items include rare pieces from the Kaiser's bodyguard and troops from multiple allied forces. Nichols departed France December 15 and arrived December 26.

House Destroyed At Montgomery Fire Hits Influenza Family
Special to Times Press Montgomery Feb 21 Edward Whigam and family of Montgomery all ill with influenza were driven from their home at midnight Thursday by a fire that destroyed the house. They escaped with great effort as all were in serious condition. Cause not learned though a defective chimney is claimed. The blaze progressed rapidly and nothing could be saved. Insurance covered part of the loss. The ill family was taken to a neighbor’s home, warm clothes were provided, and they were treated.

Mother of John D. Schultz Dies Thursday Night
Mrs. Alice Hadden Schultz of Beachie avenue, this city, mother of John D. Schultz, advertising manager of the Times Press, died Thursday night at 6 34 at the home of her daughter in New York after a brief illness. The funeral will be private and held Sunday afternoon at 2 from her home. An obituary will appear later. Mrs. Bary F. Short has been transferred to Linden juvenile school, and Miss Anna Battirer of Oswego has been engaged as a Beattie Hill teacher.

Death by Apoplexy in Marsbrook Prompts Coroner Conclusion
Newburgh area coroner Jona F. Tusher ruled death of Wham L'Hommedies in Poughkeepsiee, Marsbrook, was due to apoplexy after sworn statements were taken Wednesday night. In Middletown a rough day for dogs ended with one struck and killed by a car at Wickham Avenue and Church Street and another hit nearby on Highland Avenue. Officer Percival Bennett investigated.

Captain Canfield Returns Home From Overseas

Dynamite Cars Jump the Track At Montgomery
Special to Times Press Montgomery February 21 a Northern Pacific freight car loaded with dynamite left the track along with other cars on a long doubleender. Cars from New York Central and Fasco division also jumped the rails but no injuries occurred and damage was limited. Engineers Cashin Liscomb and Conductor O Donnel were shaken but unharmed as wreckers from Halingston arrived to straighten the line and restore traffic.
