Falling Rock Causes Wreck Near Marlborough Station
Newburgh Feb 21 a falling rock lodged under the firebox of a freight locomotive on the West Shore railroad about half a mile south of Marlborough station derailed 12 cars causing a total loss of about a quarter million dollars. The train carried 28 cars with ten loaded with barley and two with oats. Engineer George A. Smith and the crew of five were unharmed. Railroad officials work to recover spilled grain and assess the stone which weighed about 500 pounds and measured two and a half by two feet.
