A Public Market Committee meeting of the Chamber of Commerce will be held in the Farm Bureau office Saturday at 2 o clock. Farmers in Orange county within about 10 miles are invited to attend to discuss establishing a public market here and gauge farmer support. Committee members include John Hartmeann Fred S. Rogers O S Fellows Louis L Buck and T B Guinan.
In Xyack on February 20, authorities report Otto Earl, 30, was found dead after a high speed collision on Ivy Road. Initial belief of murder gave way to findings that two cars raced by and Earl was struck, with Coroner Dutcher and District Attorney Gagan pursuing the vehicle owners.
The Ben ton avenue PTA postponed its meeting and plans to reconvene on March 26. Mr Trauger praised playgrounds and urged supervised wholesome activity with physical and moral benefits. Joseph Rogers, owner of a banjo and drumhead factory near Freehold Road, received a Charleston West Virginia mailed letter last week with two drum heads mailed in 1896 to Matthews in Farboro North Carolina. The heads, found in excellent condition, showed no signs of wear or delay and arrived after 20 years.
Kingston February 20 The first banquet of the newly organized Ulster County Society in New York city last evening at Hore Manhattan was a success with over 150 members renewing friendships and acquaintances. Young men, business and professional leaders, and older generation with national reputations attended, Hingston sent a large delegation, and officers include J Ward Follette president Oliver P Carpenter vice president Walter R Crump treasurer Joseph Drake secretary Alion B Parker honorary president.
In Newburgh, 7-year-old Gertrude Schai was a witness against her father’s chauffeur. The prisoner was discharged by Recorder Ceniline yesterday as the girl could not bear to appear in court. The case, tied to a paternity charge by W. W. Cellins, superintendent of the City and Town Home, with Helen N. Klebder as initiator, was adjourned to March 6 after the principal witness was unavailable.

A well-dressed 35 year old woman, claiming refinement, threatened to blow up the J P Morgan office in New York this afternoon unless she received 150000 dollars. She said she was Eloise Yelton a Newark milliner and that millions from her father’s Morgan interests remained to her. Police are seeking her relatives. An Albany item notes Deputy Fiscal Supervisor William J Maier of Seneca was named deputy state comptroller to replace Warren Lee who retires March 1.
Farm Bureau plans a spraying information service in the county. A Cornell graduate plant pathologist will lead the telephone advisory network, coordinating with county committees to inform growers when to spray and which products to use. Middletown and Newburgh Chambers of Commerce back the project financially.

The war office also noted two German planes were shot down in sky combats near Smorgogne on Sunday and Monday. Otisville Grange switches its regular meeting to Friday February 23, with a report on the New York State Grange and a Farmers Institute invitation for February 22 at Howells.
The Grand Jury at Goshen indicted Frank Bauer alias Frank Wisher for burglary in the third degree after entering the home of Thomas Snouh in New Windsor and stealing jewelry and three quarts of champagne. He claimed to be 48 and born in Germany, with past residence in Chicago and a Sing Sing term. Also indicted were George Smith, Joseph Merritt, and Rufus Young for burglary in the first degree for entering the Erie Railroad commissary car at Goshen and taking mother boats, rubber coats, and cigarettes. they were remanded after arraignment and await Grand Jury action.
Rear Admiral Alexander Berry Bates U S N retired died in Binghamton at age 84. He enlisted in 1862 and served in the Civil War aboard the Sagamon and the M Atlas? He fought Albemarle in Albemarle Sound and was chief engineer on the Texas in the Spanish American War. For Santiago he earned three stars. He was commissioned rear admiral in 1965 and retired. His wife, a son John, and a daughter Barbara survive.

Governor Whitman and staff arrived in Buffalo to join the city in welcoming the Seventy Fourth Regiment, National Guard, returning from seven months on border service. A deadly fire in New York killed three in a four story boarding house, with two women and one man perishing and many injured. Firemen rescued dozens from windows. the dead were Elizabeth Graves, 45, Addie Carver, 25, and Herbert Kelly, a plumber.
News from New York reports a German spy plot aboard a submarine near the Orkneys with Imperial funds, leading to the arrest of Alvert AL Sander and Charles Wannenberg, charged with starting operations against a neutral nation. Austria hungary attitude sought on submarine warfare.
