Plans for Middletown auto show promise big turnout
Plans for the annual automobile show to be held at the State Armory February 26 to March 1 gained momentum at a Middletown Automobile and Accessory Dealers Protective Ass'n meeting. The event aims to benefit Company I, First Provisional Regiment, NYG. Officials expect strong floor space bookings and seek speakers including Secretary of State Francis M. Hugo.

Mother hears of her son death on battlefield letter arrives
Mrs Fannie J Terwilliger of Middletown receives a letter from Captain O G Leland of the 107th Infantry dated January 4 announcing Sergeant John E Terwilliger was killed in action on November 24 near the Indenburg Line south of Vaninville. He is likely buried in an American cemetery near front of Jemont Farm about 12 miles east of Peronne. The note is signed by O G Leland. There is a church Girls Guild sale of home made goods at Swalm's Hardware Friday at 10 a.m. Proceeds aid the First Presbyterian Church. The Times-Press will not publish Saturday February 22 for Washington's Birthday. Notices for Friday must be in by Thursday afternoon.

Fire Alarm Restored After Tuesday Fault
The fire bells and whistle on Centre street sounded repeatedly Tuesday due to loosened connections and a blown fuse in the repeating and switchboard room. The issue was fixed about 6 PM that day. Thomas F. Mahon, in charge of the system, had been ill and kept at home but risked going out briefly to address the trouble.

Aged Resident Drops Dead While Carrying Lamp
Mrs. Julian A. Henny died suddenly of apoplexy about 10 o'clock Tuesday night at 34 Hanford Street. She carried two small sighted lamps and a heated iron when she fell, breaking the lamp. Married to George Denny in 1869, she had lived at 54 Hanford Street for four years with friend George C. Robinson. A Baptist Church member in Cold Spring. Clemenceau Shot At In Paris As Assailant Is Beaten
French Premier Georges Clemenceau was fired upon as he entered an automobile in Paris. The assailant, a 25 year old man believed to be Russian, was beaten by a barber and restaurant patrons before police removed him. Clemenceau suffered a shoulder wound and was not considered in danger. The incident occurred before a planned peace conference with Colonel House and Arthur Balfour.
