Woodruff Foresees Growth in Middletown School System

Middletown Board of Education president Joseph Woodruff told a Sertoma Club audience at the Manchester Hotel that expanding student demands will enlarge the district which already covers portions of Warren and Butler counties. He outlined plans for two new junior highs, three more elementary schools, and possibly a third high school within ten years, plus site purchases and new financing methods beyond current bonds. He cited teacher shortages and curricular reforms as key issues and noted a 12 month teaching option with higher pay as a potential solution.
