Vigil at Middletown seeks end to violence after shooting

Christina Foster 17 returns to the corner of 16th Avenue and Minnesota Street with about 150 church and community members to pray for an end to violence. Foster was shot in the chest as nearly 20 shots hit a crowd on Sept 20 injuring Terry Smith and Clyde Townsend. Foster, Smith and Townsend were treated at Middletown Regional Hospital. Smith's condition was listed as unclear. The vigil, organized by the Ministerial Alliance of Middletown, emphasizes taking back the streets through prayer. Foster aims to resume cosmetology studies at D. Russel Lee Career Center.

Powell says Iraq getting worse but elections still planned

Kayla Harrison, 14, a standout judo competitor from Middletown, trains at Hand 2 Hand Acrobatic Training Center. Ranked No 1 in the 13 14 and 17 19 divisions in the United States, she aims for Beijing 2008 after narrowly missing the Athens 2004 Games. She has won U S Judo Federation titles and competed internationally in Japan Estonia and Quebec.
